Double Wall Corrugated (DWC) pipes were introduced as DRex in India for the first time. These pipes are made of a material called PE/PP. They have a smooth inside and a corrugated (wavy) outside surface. The corrugated outside surface makes the pipes strong and able to handle heavy loads without getting damaged.
Unlike regular pipes, D-Rex pipes don’t get squashed when vehicles drive over them. They are also flexible enough to be installed in curved paths. The inside wall of the pipes is smooth, which helps liquids and slurry flow smoothly without getting blocked or collecting dirt inside the pipe. Because of these advantages and the reasonable cost, D-Rex pipes are popular among customers and contractors.
Lead-Free uPVC Piping for Potable Water
Astral Aquarius is a lead-free piping system for potable water, introduced by Astral for the first time in India in 2004. This system is used for cold water application and the maximum service temperature is 60°c. In earlier days, PVC pipes with threads were used in these applications and it caused joint leakage, provided less hydraulic strength due to threads, and the overall installation was more complicated. Astral Silencio is a high-density, low-noise drainage and sewerage piping system suitable for both commercial and residential wastewater applications. This top-quality piping system is designed to endure hot and cold wastewater and meets all the requirements for non-pressurized wastewater piping as specified in DIN EN 12056 and DIN 1986-100.
The Astral Silencio piping system is constructed with a 3-layer design using Mineral Reinforced Polypropylene, which effectively reduces the noise level of soil and waste discharge systems compared to alternative materials. In addition to its excellent acoustic properties, Astral Silencio offers significantly enhanced mechanical properties, making it a versatile solution for various challenging wastewater discharge applications.
The sound-insulating design of Astral Silencio ensures a comfortable environment. The pipe dimensions conform to the standards set by EN 1451 (Plastic piping systems for soil and waste discharge – low and high temperature – within the building structure for PP) or EN 1401 (Plastic piping systems for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage for PVC-U). This allows for a trouble-free transition from other piping systems to Astral Silencio without the need for special transition adapters.
Advanced PP SWR System With 3 Layer Technology
The Astral Aquasafe system provides a comprehensive range of uPVC pressure pipes and fittings. These pipes are manufactured according to the standards of IS: 4985 and Astral’s own quality guidelines, covering sizes from 20 mm to 400 mm. They are available in different pressure ratings as specified in IS: 4985 and feature a plain socket and ring socket with an elastomeric seal ring for easy installation.
Astral Aquasafe pipes and fittings can be joined using Astral UPVC solvent cement or an elastomeric seal ring, ensuring secure connections. The fittings are manufactured in compliance with IS: 7834, and fabricated fittings follow the standards of IS10124(Part-2) as well as Astral’s own specifications.
Both the pipes and fittings are grey in color, made from uPVC raw material, which makes them corrosion-free and durable. Additionally, Astral prioritizes lead-free manufacturing for Aquasafe pipes and fittings, supporting the movement towards safer and healthier plumbing systems.
